They’ve played at Glastonbury, Reading and Leeds, Rock Werchter, Oxegen and T in the Park. Caleb, Jared and Nathan Followill are brothers from Nashville, Tennessee. They formed Kings of Leon in 1999. They have released eight albums to date, and their latest — Only by the Night — has two new tracks. T-Shirts There can be few bands in modern music who arrived with a backstory and image more acutely designed to make certain rock fans cry with pleasure than Kings of Leon. Here was a band of actual brothers and cousins who grew up on Southern rock, blues, and folk music; a group that won multiple Grammy Awards and sold over 12 million albums worldwide. In a move that might have been inspired by the way in which No Age’s rainbow logo has become a striking piece of Gen Y punk iconography (see the image above), 10 KOL super-fans announced on social media that they received one-of-a-kind tees with different sets of lyrics printed inside. The shirts are available on the band’s online merch store. This unisex tee is 100% combed ring-spun cotton, giving it a soft, classic feel. It is fitted and comes in a range of sizes, including L, XL, 2XL, 3XL. Hoodies This Unisex Kings of Leon Band hoodie is made from a heavyweight blend of cotton and polyester that’s incredibly soft, with no itchy side seams. It’s also printed with premium ink for vivid colors and sharp detail. The Followills’ brand is full of homespun Americana-style clothing like plaid ‘woodsman’ shirts and skinny jeans, along with plaited leather belts and fedoras. The line is a collaboration with Surface To Air, a multidisciplinary company that combines fashion, communication and film. As a result, it’s been imitated numerous times — from Radiohead’s Colin Greenwood’s torso to a T-shirt by Diplo. But it’s the band’s rainbow logo that’s become a striking piece of Gen Y punk iconography. And, as The Voice noted in 2010, No Age have used it to sell t-shirts of their own. Bags The Nashville-based brothers behind the fashion brand have designed bags for a host of musicians, from the Walkmen to the Ghost of a Sabre Tooth Tiger. They also have a partnership with Barneys. They’ve tapped into the non-fungible token (NFT) trend, which has seen artists like Linkin Park’s Mike Shinoda, 3LAU, and Grimes sell exclusive drops on their digital platforms. But Kings of Leon’s NFT release is a bit different, since it will be the first time that a band has sold an entire album in this format. This release will be a limited edition of 18 tokens, and those that purchase one can unlock live front-row tickets for life at the group’s concerts. This is a unique offering that may give the band another revenue stream and appeal to hardcore fans. Hats Once a band passes the three album mark, there's an unspoken expectation that they mature and tighten their sound. Nashville bred Kings of Leon have done just that on Only By the Night, which strips away the sporadic, slobbering bark and exposes the cringe-inducing lyrics beneath. Kings of Leon play Wrexham's Racecourse Ground on May 27 and 28. Hospitality packages are on sale now via the eTicketing website. It's a balmy Halloween evening at Qudos Bank Arena, and punters have started to file into the stadium in droves for tonight's show.
