World champion D. Gukesh has won the Grand Chess Tournament held in Zagreb, Croatia with a brilliant performance. He won the big victory by defeating Norway's Magnus Carlsen in the sixth round on July 3. This is Gukesh's second consecutive victory over Carlsen. Gukesh, who won two out of three matches on the first day, defeated Uzbekistan's Nodirbek Abdussattarov and American Grandmaster Fabiano Caruana in the fourth and fifth rounds. Gukesh has gained a 10-point lead by defeating Carlsen. Carlsen had mocked Gukesh before the match, after which Gukesh gave a befitting reply with his game.  | |
