Mixed Xylene prices journey south in Mumbai market | |
Indian Petrochem analysts have observed a marginal decline in mixed xylene prices in the Mumbai imported tanker load mark. The price of the material slipped from Rs.72.25/kg on July 30 to Rs.70.5/kg on July 31, 2025 reflecting softer downstream demand and adequate imported availability. Mix-xylene is primarily derived from the refining of crude oil and is a key intermediate in the production of various chemicals and materials. Its versatility and unique properties make it a valuable raw material in several industries, including petrochemicals, plastics, textiles, and paints. Mixed xylene is used as a solvent for paints and pesticides. It is also a raw material for orthoxylene (phthalic anhydride), metaxylene (isophthalic acid), paraxylene (terephthalic acid) and ethylbenzene (styrene monomer).
